Students Rally for See You at the Pole
About 15 students at Crossroads joined with students from schools across the nation for the annual “See You at the Pole” event. This year on the morning of September 24 students at private and public schools alike gathered before school around their flagpoles to pray. This is not a school-sponsored event, but is advertised at youth groups. Students then initiate the rally at their individual schools. Sometimes parents or youth pastors join with them. Student-led prayers brought many praises and requests before the throne of God that morning. Family, school, friends, government, election, and many other topics were included. Praise God that we have kids who are taking to heart II Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Crusader Call - September 2008
Dear Crossroads Family,
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! It is so good to have this place busy with activity and full of people. I love seeing the smiling faces and hearing the cheerful voices. We are beginning to settle into a routine and get down to work. Please know that I am here to support our teachers, students, and parents. I am looking forward to partnering with you in your child’s education and am available to hear your questions, comments, and concerns. I would like to invite you to pray with me from 8:00-8:05 each morning out front. Let’s see what God will do as we seek Him together.
Yours in Christ,
Patty Dougherty

A Note from PTFC
Remember to mark your calendars for our first meeting on September 9th at 3:00 pm. This meeting is very important, because we will be taking nominations for PTFC officers. We also need to set dates for our school activities. Please come with your great ideas and enthusiasm. Remember, Crusader Care is available and meetings count toward your volunteer hours.
Please turn in Box Tops to your child’s teacher. And don’t throw away those Save Mart receipts. Turn them in to your child’s teacher, so we can earn valuable rewards.

New Life Drama Company to perform in chapel
Parents and friends of Crossroads are invited to come and experience the New Life Drama Company as they minister the gospel of Jesus Christ through the art form of skit drama. Their presentation is a series of short powerful skits that are not only fun and exciting but life changing as well. These skits touch on a wide variety of topics such as salvation, prayer, evangelism, family issues, and more. The material will make you laugh as well as challenge you to a closer walk with the Lord. This special chapel will take place on Wednesday, October 1st at 10:00 am in the youth room. An offering will be taken to support them in their ministry.
Modular building update
Four modular buildings have been set up and are being revamped and prepared for use. Over the summer a crew of volunteers put in insulation in the floors and the buildings were put together. CCS extends a big thank you to Frank Scriven, Doug and Shannon Sholten, Travis Taylor, Jerry Volkmar, Richie Iest, Mike Gonsalves, Dave Ross, and Mark McCann for tackling that job. Electric wires have been run to the buildings and will soon be hooked up and checked. Ron Walton, who worked with us on the long process of obtaining permits, has been hired to oversee the completion of this project. Ron, Frank Scriven, Jerry Volkmar and crew put skirting around the bottom of the buildings. Frank, who has put in countless hours, is doing the exterior painting. Chuck Uptergrove, of IKON roofing (and dad of Quinn), has started on the roof. He is most generously donating brand new state of the art roofing. Things are moving right along as God continues to meet our needs. Be sure to take a minute and thank some of these generous people mentioned when you see them. They are showing the meaning of being “blessed to be a blessing” as they donate their time and talents. We are confident of this…that He who began the good work will be faithful to complete it.
